[12:18:31] @ Mademoiselle C : Dragon the reason I separated Gardevoir and Gallade was because you wanted Gardevoir and annainov wants Gallade

Sorry I'm going to have to delete your Gallade set Razz

For Gardevoir, I think you can make a timid set and a modest set, or maybe a timid set and a defensive set.

And offensive mega gardevoir could make good use of hidden power ground btw.

Well before it got a mega, Gardevoir used to be a defensive poké. Or sometimes choice scarfed.

Nah, AV isn't great on this with no draining moves. And yeah, make A timid mega set and a bold regular set.

Was thinking of adding that into the second set. Didn't know if it was the way to go though. I'll add that in now?

yeah you can put HP ground on the timid set and then add a bold set like Bunsel said. Or maybe Calm, idk.

(it has like 65 defense lol) i could see maybe a bold calm mind thing going on but then it has no way to boost its awkward 80 speed unless choice scarf and calm mind wont allow that. (i dun understand plis explain) ;w;

Tentacruel also has 65 defense, it's all about what you're going against. You have Will O Wisp, and you're typing lends you to wall physical better. It's not a wall so much as a wish pivot.

Forgive me if i'm wrong since i don't know much about tentacruel but it looks like a special wall? why would you send it out/leave it out against a physical attacker?

Also how to overcome mediocre speed?

This ^

But yeah, I do admit that this set is not really useful this gen. Maybe just go with a timid and a modest, both with HP ground. Make a vote?

It's not a wall though, you are missing the point here. It's a utility counter. It has a plethora of support moves and the point is that it can switch in on moves from both sides. Tentacruel is great at that, and Gardevoir can be good too. And I don't really know about modest, it's only 100 speed.

The only reason i'm not convinced is because iv'e never seen one in play. There seem to be better options for a utility counter (which i just had to google because i'm dumb) than gardevoir. And with a special attack that slays i feel like it's wasted potential. I agree that modest may be a not so good idea. I'll put it up to a vote (because my view is probably dumb)

True, you are correct. I keep thinking that Gardevoir is still in the lower tiers without the mega stone. Which is unfortunate, it's a cool poke in its own right.

Modest can be used for a choice scarf set which can be pretty good if you have another Mega on your team (like, say, Alakazam) but still want to use Gardevoir.

True, but don't you lose to a lot of commonly scarfed pokes that way?

I get you Dragon. I love coffee and hate tea, which is pretty alienating. It loses you friends. Maybe it's just an English thing.

There was a thing called the Boston Tea Party that made Americans like coffee over tea. So yeah, it's a pretty sore subject over that.

But I'm American and cannot stand coffee, but I like tea. But I like it southern style, so I don't think I'd fit in over there.

l... o... l...

I like one kind of tea and don't like coffee... Very Happy (I hate its smell :blerghfugu:)

but since Brazil is a humongous miscegenation, both coffee and tea are loved by pretty much everyone (though people tend do be mega addicted to coffee, MEGA addicted)

Ah ok, I thought so. I've seen the Sweet tea option while visiting Atlanta and Charlotte before. I never ordered it though at the time but perhaps I might try it out when I find myself visiting the American South again.

(quick deviation from the deviation)

will the second non-mega set (i assume it's choice scarf) need a hidden power? or is it the other one that's not gonna have a hidden power?

Guys have you seen that base 85 Attack? Pixilate Return is quite Powerful and it has the Elemental Punches to back it up as well as access to Priority. Its not Sylveon in terms of power as Sylveon has Quick Attack but certainly is usable Surprised

Just look at that power:

+2 252+ Atk Pixilate Mega Gardevoir Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Arceus: 448-528 (100.9 - 118.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

No joke, Physical Sylveon did wonders for me in Showdown. Choice Band Retaliate/Return/Quick Attack were pretty powerful with the surprise value it brung. Surprised

Sadly am not able to find replays back when I used Choice Band on it.

You can see a more physically leaning supporting variant in my older replays if you search up my name on showdown. Sadly as said though its Choice Band days are too old to be found Sad

Okay so am i going with a hidden power and on which of the two? Iv'e never used hidden power on gardevoir so i'm not sure which route to take. Also should i go memento or confuse ray? maybe a different one on each one?

The Timid one wants Memento b/c it can go Scarf(well I'd only use Scarf with Timid). I'd also say Timid should get HP Ground if only one should. I dont really see any need for 2 sets as near every Mega Garde runs Timid and regular Garde can use Timid too as the extra speed is appreciated to support. It shouldnt really run a defensive set without Wish which is a event exclusive making defensive Gardevoir inferior to that one.

No, Wish is a level up move. And yeah, HP ground is probably the best, because of Heatran. Everything else can be covered.
